Presenting EMERGE at the Pingyao International Photography Festival

LCI Melbourne students had the opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage at the 24th Pingyao International Photography Festival. Through the EMERGE project, led by academic mentor Dean Golja, they gained hands-on experience in preparing their work for an international audience, developing essential skills and industry connections.

Presenting EMERGE on an International Stage

Students worked closely with Dean Golja throughout the development of EMERGE, providing them with invaluable opportunities to expand their creative horizons and professional networks. The students were actively involved in every stage of the exhibition process, from conceptualisation, to final presentation, allowing them to gain firsthand experience taking part in an international showcase. This collaboration helped students understand the critical importance of professional presentation and how their creative work can resonate with a diverse global audience.

"Students benefit immensely from opportunities that challenge them and push them beyond their comfort zones, fostering both personal and professional growth." Dean Golja.

Real World Learning

Dean Golja’s mentorship throughout this project provided students with practical, hands-on learning. From the early stages of concept development to the final presentation, students were able to apply their skills in a real-world context. Golja’s approach focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to navigate creative opportunities both locally and internationally.
